From George Lucas to Michael Phelps to the Octo-Mom, every famous person has to deal with it at some point: Backlash. But now, as the vitriol begins to boil around Kristen Stewart, we have to wonder: Are the Twilighters being too mean?
The latest brouhaha began brewing when Robert Pattinson showed up to Sunday’s 81st Annual Academy Awards without the “Twilight” leading lady on his arm. As fans know, from the MTV Movie Awards to Comic-Con and various other events throughout 2009, it was extremely rare to see one actor making a publicity appearance without the other nearby. Immediately, rumors began circulation that there was more to KStew’s conspicuous absence than met the eye.
Sure enough, when the 18-year-old’s father John Stewart (no, not that one) showed up on the red carpet, the TV producer was approached by the incomparable Billy Bush. George W.’s cousin asked Kristen’s dad why she wasn’t presenting with RPattz, and his answer was as honest as it was shocking.
He said that Kristen would present at the Oscars, “When it’s a great movie, not just one that makes a lot of money.”
So basically, in addition to revealing the belief of Kristen’s father that “Twilight” is not a great movie, the quote seems to imply that the star agrees with her Dad. Piled on top of this comment is Stewart’s recent interview with “Nylon” magazine in which she referred to the “psychotic situations” and “bullsh—questions” of the “Twilight” promotional tour. Which brings us to the fallout in recent days from the Twilighters.
“Wow!” wrote “popsicle14” in an MTV.com comments section. “She’s the biggest snob in Hollywood.”
“While I can imagine how overwhelming the situation may be, this girl needs to get over herself!” wrote “kris10.” “If it is true she is waiting to be in a ‘good’ movie before she attends the Oscars, she is going to be waiting a looooong time.”
Still, some Twilighters are quick to defend their Bella. “So she swears every now and then…whoopdie do,” a fan named “Ash” said of Stewart’s vernacular. “People don’t have to like her, she isn’t looking for anyone’s approval, as we have seen/heard. She ultimately makes her own decisions. We can’t fault her, cause we DON’T know her…but you should respect her a bit for not being a ‘stereotypical’ young Hollywood actress.”

Well, I can’t add anything than what has already been said. This whole situation has gotten even more ridiculous and totally unwarranted. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if at one point in the future, Kristen starts seeing a shrink.
Bottom line, if she was ungrateful as ‘certain’ people claim she is, then she wouldn’t be getting the jobs she’s been getting. Even post Twilight, Kristen has a full year of practically non-stop working.
The way I see it, her upbringing in the show business world has provided her to meet her goals with a different set of priorities. While other stars seek fame and fortune (and there’s totally nothing wrong with that) there are many others out there who do it for the pure enjoyment of the art.

I think that maybe she made a mistake, some of what she said in the Nylon interview can be taken as slightly b*tchy, but Kris is only 18–maybe she needs to learn to keep her opinions, if they’re unpopular, to herself. I’m not saying that she needs to pretend to be someone she’s not, but she should realise that Twilight is her meal ticket for now, and that stupid questions from 13-year-old superfans is part of the job, distasteful or not. I love Kris, but sometimes she comes off unlikeable, but I don’t think she does it on purpose.

I went to some promotional events and seriously aside from getting to meet Kristen who is really down to earth the girls there were fuking annoying.
All they wanted to do was tell Rob how sexy he is and make everyone wish they didn’t have ears. It’s a miracle they put up with it so long. I mean yeah Twilight is the role that many know Kristen from but its not the only thing shes done.
I mean it must be frustrating to be promoting another movie and be asked thing about Twilight constantly. I hope Twilight doesn’t define or hold Kristen and Rob back from other great roles. Twilight was good and all but the way some people are obsessing is kind of scary.

Nobody knows if she was really asked to present at the Oscars. I think that she enjoyed making the movie Twilight and is proud of her work. I think she is overwhelmed and at times irritated with all the hype and publicity.

I think the statement made was completely reasonable. I know that Kristen likes twilight, but I think she is probably embarrassed by the hype it’s gotten, and by whom its gotten that hype from. Twilight is a very original book and I like it a lot, but when there’s thousands and thousands of girls between the ages of 9 and 13 going crazy over it, it gets a bad name. A lot of people like Twilight for all the wrong reasons. and suddenly Twilight isn’t what it was ever intended to be, it’s becoming what ignorant fans make it. I believe that probably plays a big part in Kristen’s opinion about it. Even I, get embarrassed to be reading twilight in public because i know it’s got such a stupid rep.
And I can bet a billion dollars that if there had never been a book, and Robert Pattinson’s face wasn’t so pretty, over half of the movie’s fan base would be lost.
The movie is no where near as good as the book, but most people prefer it because of Rob.
That’s quite embarrassing to be apart of, and I think that’s what encouraged her dad’s statement, not that Kristen actually doesn’t like the movie itself, but everything its labled her as and brought along with it.
Main thing is all of this is that it is a comment that was said by her father NOT her. It is rather obvious that this was a mistake on his part – he should know better because he knows how this busines works – good and bad. I think its time for ever yne to give this young lady a little bit of wiggle room. She has a boyfriend and everyone has her marrying Rob…She and he have worked non-stop since the Twilight opening and are getting ready to start filming for the next installment…Why does she have to show up every where Rob’s at???? I think they have both been pretty good sports considering all the screaming, ranting and carrying on this movie has promoted and bored people should let them live their own lives she’s only 18 for goshsakes!

It’s worth pointing out that when she referred to the bull***t questions, she probably wasn’t referring to questions from fans but to those from entertainment journalists. When an actors goes on a press junket, they are usually seated in a room, and for a period of several hours, dozens of reporters will filter in, one at a time, to ask their questions. Each reporter usually gets between 10 to 15 minutes. Generally, these journalists lack imagination and all of them seem to ask the exact same boring questions. It’s a very tedious process, and most actors find it very aggravating, especially if the questions are particularly vapid (i.e. “What’s it like to kiss a vampire?”).
wow..those people who were quoted saying that Kristen Stewart was a snob should really read the interview in the Nylon Magazine, ’cause shes not a snob to be honest. she really cares about the film more than anyone thinks.
