Hot Topic has so much Twilight-related merchandise that I thought it was time to put together an album with all the shirts featuring Bella. My only complaints about these are that 1) the color scheme for all of them are too dark and 2) the repetition of images. Maybe for New Moon we’ll get a wider variety.
Scans from the winter issue of Teen Magazine have been added to the gallery. These are not my scans, so once I can get a hold on my own copy of the magazine, I’ll replace them; I think I have quite a few magazines to go out and look for. “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer may believe that Robert Pattinson’s “performance, in my opinion, is Oscar-worthy,” but the film’s producers don’t agree. His name isn’t being entered in the race for best actor. Ditto Kristen Stewart: she’s not being entered in the best-actress contest.
In fact, even though it looks like “Twilight” will emerge as a big box-officer winner just a month before academy members receive their nomination ballots, it’s only being entered in two Oscar races: best music score and song.
Both of those categories make sense. “Twilight”‘s hit song “Decode” is written and sung by Paramore. Its larger music score is the handiwork of Carter Burwell, who’s never been nominated for an Oscar, but he’s well known and highly respected within Hollywood’s music circle. Burwell did receive other honors for his scores to “O Brother Where Art Thou?” (BAFTA nomination), “Gods and Monsters” (L.A. Film Critics Assn. Award) and “Before Night Falls” (Venice Film Festival Award).“Twilight” isn’t being submitted for best visual effects, not even as a salute to the fanciful scene where Pattinson and Stewart dance on the tops of pine trees in the wilderness. It’s not even being submitted for makeup — and that’s a giant shockeroo.
Oscar voters swoon like spellbound victims before vampire films. Two have been nominated for best makeup in recent years: “Shadow of the Vampire” (2000) and Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dracula” (1992).But “Twilight” probably feels that it doesn’t measure up in the fangs department. As Manohla Dargis points out in the New York Times, “Edward (Rob Pattinson), you see, burns but doesn’t bite . . . . He keeps his fangs in his mouth . . . . The poor boy has been defanged and almost entirely drained. He’s so lifeless, he might as well be dead — oops, he already is.”
Edward Douglas of Comingsoon.net tells Gold Derby: “No, you don’t see a single set of fangs or anything. I don’t even really consider it a vampire movie. There is a lot of make-up, though. Pattinson wears more eyeliner and lipstick than some women I know.”How have other notable vampire films fared at Oscars past — classics like Bela Lugosi’s “Dracula”? With “Twilight” rising at the box office this weekend, Summit Entertainment has officially announced its first sequel, “New Moon,” Variety reported on Saturday.
“Twilight,” the teen vampire romance that’s generated an obsessive following among young audiences, earned $35.7 million on Friday, including a whopping $7 million from Thursday midnight screenings.
Fang fans won’t have to wait long for more — the studio is already moving forward with the follow-up. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has signed on to pen “New Moon” and possible third installment “Eclipse,” and star Robert Pattinson said the “New Moon” script is ready to go.
“The script is already done for the second one,” he told the Seattle Times earlier this week, noting he’s signed on himself for two more movies.
The “Twilight” films stem from the popular four-part series of novels by Stephenie Meyer, which includes “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn.”

A female-dominated audience drove Twilight’s opening weekend to among the biggest in Hollywood history: a $70.6 million Friday-Sunday gross, per studio estimates.
“This is a game-changer. This is an industry-changing performance,” Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock said today. “With the success of Sex and the City, and Mamma Mia!, we’ve awoken a sleeping giant at the box office.”
Exit polling showed 75 percent of Twilight’s audience was female. Box office stats show the movie is the biggest opener for a movie directed by a woman (Catherine Hardwicke).
The vampire romance also played well to the young—overall, 55 percent of ticket buyers were under age 25.
